National SDG Bootcamp invites young social entrepreneurs working towards accelerating the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to progress on their leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship skills.
After the success of SDG Bootcamp for Changemakers in KPK, UNDP Pakistan, in collaboration with DEMO, will be organizing a National SDG Bootcamp, an initiative of Youth Co:Lab, the program, co-led by UNDP and Citi Foundation.
Youth Co:Lab is an initiative positioning young people front and center in order to solve the region’s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth, in order to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, entrepreneurship and social innovation.
The collective mission of Youth Co:Lab and UNDP Pakistan’s Youth Empowerment Program, which is a multi-pronged strategy aimed at creating pathways for the economic and social empowerment of youth in Pakistan, has led to the National SDG Bootcamp – a program that aims to engage young changemakers between the ages of 18 and 29, running social enterprises to promote youth led solutions for attaining the SDGs.
The National SDG Bootcamp is calling the next generation of leading social entrepreneurs in Pakistan to become a part of this first-of-its-kind initiative that will allow social innovators and changemakers to scale the impact of their social ventures with customized training and support.
- What? It is a 4-day entrepreneurship bootcamp to help young problem solvers scale the impact of their social ventures with customized training.
- Why? The bootcamp is for social entrepreneurs whose initiatives have an impact on solving societal problems and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim is to support participants to hone their entrepreneurship skills and make their social ventures sustainable.
- Who? To be eligible to participate in the bootcamp, applicants should have an operational social venture at the time of applying. They must be running a venture in some form for more than a year with a ready minimum viable product (MVP) and in need of support in establishing processes, team, partners, marketing and operations to achieve scale and take their venture to the next level.
- On the final day of the bootcamp, judges will select the top 3 social ventures and award the prize money of up to USD 2500.
SDG Changemakers Summit
Immediately after the bootcamp, on 11th January, there will be a multi-stakeholder national level dialogue event which will be attended by officials from UNDP Pakistan and the Regional Office as well as government officials, private sector partners, relevant stakeholders, social innovators and policy changemakers. There will be a thought-provoking panel discussion on creating an enabling environment for youth to become social entrepreneurs and responsible citizens, and how key actors across the ecosystem (be they government, private sector or development professionals) can commit to supporting the growth of the social entrepreneurship space in Pakistan. Later in the event, the three best social entrepreneurs shortlisted by the jury from the National SDG Bootcamp will be given a chance to showcase their social ventures in front of relevant stakeholders and will be awarded prize money and certificates along with other additional benefits such as access and incubation support to innovation spaces and access to mentors, investors and networking events.
One final winner will be selected at the national dialogue event and will receive the additional opportunity of being enrolled in a three-month Regional Springboard Online Program. This online program will focus on empowering social entrepreneurs to establish a strong, sustainable business venture while improving their leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The training modules for this online Springboard program includes elevator pitch crafting, financial projection mapping, presentation training, and much more. After the completion of Springboard Program, the finalist will have the chance to travel to the Asia-Pacific Regional Youth Co:Lab Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam in April 2019.
